Music please
Years ago I made this gramophone and radio in 1:24 for Heinrike and Rainer. Yesterday I found the pic, when I was looking for something completely different (which I didn't found by the way...). The Radio was my first attempt to work with a miller (or a shaper?) No closer inspection, please! And keep in mind, that they are quarter scale - therefore veryveryvery tiny....

More from Thomas
I can't wait to make cheeses for the wooden plates and some fruits for the bowl. But I'm uneasy what to put on the acrylic stand. Perhaps you have an idea???

Knock on Wood
Last week the wooden treasures from Thomas Saunders arrived. He makes such incredible fine wood turnings. The edges are extremly thin. I was so happy to find him on etsy. Today he listed some new items and I have to confess, that I bought most of them. Tomorrow I'll show you two more wooden plates.
Link of the Day - Olives from Teresa Martinez
Do you like olives? There are two fractionations - the one, who likes olives and the other one who loathe them, but I think, even if you don't like them at all, you'll love the olives from Teresa. She has more on her blog. When I see them, my mouth is watering!

Look what I found
This is one of the first Christmas Calendars I made. I rifled through an old box and there it was.... What a coincidence, because I'm making some x-mas minis for the show in Gießen. End of July and I'm getting Christmas feelings. Am I nuts?!
The size of the calendar is 3x3 cm and behind the doors are different pictures of hearts. Perhaps I invented a Valentines Calendar....

Not as small as the miniatures of Willard Wigan, but Heinrike is crazy too (sometimes). This delicious dessert she made is quarter scale!!! As always her husband Rainer made the glassplates.

A Brekkie for your thoughts
Perhaps you have some ideas what this tomcat is thinking....... His name is Rossi and he is such a cute little devil - this is no contradiction. He loves to cuddle - with us and with his sister Tulipe (french!) and his girlfriend Luzi, but sometimes, he has to act as if he is the boss - LOL (this LOL comes from the girls...) Perhaps he is bugged by the tiles. They are occupying his space. Unfortunately they need much more time to dry than I thought. So there will be a delay with the tutorial.
But now to the small but important things of life:
It's Summertime - time for the beach and bathing. Years ago I made this Souvenirshop. It could be at the Baltic Sea or the North Sea. The box with the surrounding isn't made yet, but this will perhaps never happen. It isn't as perfect as I'd do it now, but it was one of my first projects. I hope you like it nevertheless.
Never before (and after) I made sailor's knots. I really thought, I must be crazy!!! (Okay - I still think so...)
If you like to try it yourself (and get the crazy feeling) - here is an animated tutorial for knots.
Welcome new followers!Welcome Lara! - You can see her blog here
margarita vives - unfortunately I don't see a website. If you have one - please let me know (if you like)

I'm sure you know a lot of these blogs, but if not - go and visit them. There are so many "great" miniatures to be seen. And please leave comments on the blogs.

Paul
Heinrike sent me photos from Paul - the octopus oracle. As you can see, this picture was made "long before" the final of the soccer World Cup.... Great Idea. You made him perfect, Heinrike! And he looks soooooooo cute!
The living one you can see on You Tube.
I'm busy with the floortiles for my conservatory (solarium). I hope, I can show you photos next week. And I'll try to make a tutorial.
Because I'm very busy with this project and minis for Gießen, I'll show you some more of Heinrike Fimo miniatures the next days.

Holywood Prod. proudly presents....
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Richard is very alert, when on stage, so his own tail always stand up high...... the wolfstail is hanging a little bit limp and the wolfsmask makes his speech a little bit slurred. But he integrates these deficiencies in his role and you forget it, when you see him act.......
I love this scene and I am very happy with it. Hope, you like it too, even if it doesn't look as nice on the photos as in reality.Unfortunately there are a lot of reflections on the glas. The Bear ist from Veronique Lux, the owl in the tree on the right side is from Irmgard Gritzan and the very, very tiny bottle in the basket is from Rainer Stadler. Everything else is made by me.

Yesterday I found this blog with babies from Patty. I have to admit, that I'm not a great doll lover. When I was a little girl, I always had a bunch of teddybears and other stuffed toys in my doll's pram. But from time to time I find dolls, that I really like. I have a girl from Catherine Munière and I'd like to have an old gal with attitude from Marsha (Sassy Mini Dolls) when I'll have finished my old-new made roomboxes. And now I found these very special babies..... aren't they great?
And Patty has a GIVEAWAY for her followers! Wish me luck! But I fear, you'll want to have it too...

Miniature Shows
Oh - I forgot to say, that I added a new site to the blog, where I'd like to collect links to Miniature Shows from ALL OVER THE WORLD. So PLEASE tell me, where good shows take place, so everyone can benefit from this knowledge. It would be all the better, if you'd comment, when you visited a show and tell us your impressions. THANK YOU!!!
Followers Poll
On some other blogs I saw that new followers are specially welcomed and I find it a nice idea.
I'm only a little bit unhappy that I now have a bunch of followers (THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I'm happy at every single one of you! ) who will be welcomed at one dash and furthermore much too late.
But on the other hand I'd like to ask, if you like to be welcomed with your blogger name and a link to your site.
So I have this poll and it would be very nice, if you'd tell me your opinion (poll and/or comment).
Tomorrow I'll come back with the ready made Little Red Riding Hood scene!
Have a wonderful day!
Added at July 29th: I don't know, what happened, but my poll vanished into thin air.
A majority voted for "special welcome". Because the poll isn't there any more, please leave a comment. THANK YOU!

Leckmuscheln
I really don't know the english name for these sweets. In Germany we call them Leckmuscheln. These are little shells filled with a compact mass similiar to candy. It's one of my childhood memories and I loved to lick the candy out of the shell. So I had to make some for my Cafè. I also will have 2 of them for sale. I really don't know, if I'll make them again. I needed hours to find the little shells, to sort and clean them. The glasses are made by Rainer Stadler. Again the special ones with the sanded lid as in this post. The glass in the middle is 1/4 scale. It's made for a very special friend.......
Have a nice weekend!

Butterflies for the next Show
In June I made new butterflies for the show in Gießen. As you can see - some of them are only a little bit bigger than a pinhead. There are really in scale! Most of the miniature butterflies I've seen, are too big. The european ones are very small and the exotic ones can be much bigger.

Full Scale Bedhead
I finisehd the new bedhead. The cats love it. This bedhead is made of beechwood - only oiled with "Leinos Naturharz Hartöl" - my favorite oil for floors and other wooden surfaces. Behind the wood a mattress for visitors is hidden. When I'm ready with the sawing of the wood for the roomboxes, I'll oil the floors - something I ducked out since years...

Little Angora Rabbit
On sunday I made this little rabbit for my Red Riding Hood scene. I hope, I have it ready this month. For now I'm working in total chaos.....
Finally I've got my new vac. At last I can sand the wood. My old vac was working only with full power and I couldn't move the grinding machine over the surface - it attached itself. For weeks I had the really enormous wooden boards in the hallway - awful!!! Miele promised me a new electronic for my vac (for free) and so I waited with patience.... and then they told me it will cost 95 Euro.... No way!
The new vac is extremly silent - but I can't tell, if it's true. With all the noise from the grinding machine and the saws I really didn't hear the vac...
In the background you can see one of my "new" (half year old by now) shelfs for my miniatures. And now I have to build completely new roomboxes. I hope, I'll have everything ready by the end of this year. Then I'll live in a cosy flat again. I hardly can wait.

The Simple Bow
So you can see it better, I made a special tool - in XXL. And the ribbon has two different sides. It's also easier to see where it goes.
Lay the band around the tool.
Pull the ribbon from the front to the back.
And from the back to the front
Make a knot
and pull it tight.
Let it be controlled by the chief supervisor... (a very important step!!!)
Take the bow off and tie it up agian.
Make nice loops.
Here is the miniature version.
Cut nice ends
and glue it on a gift or sew it on a nice dressYou find the tutorial for the bow making tool here.

Another Bow Making Tool
I'd like to show you another kind of bow making on monday. For this you also need a tool.
I use a very simple one. Made of 3 wooden sticks. 2 are cut in the same length and one is shorter. Then the sticks are just held together with adhesive tape.
I prefer the textile version. In Germany it's called Lassoband. Unfortunately I haven't the slightest idea how it's called in english - sorry. I made a photo, so can see it better. It a VERY strong tape that holds the sticks perfectly.
There are other methods and tools. If you like to make a lot of bows, it could be convenient to have a wooden board with nails. But you have to cut the nails, so you can remove the bows from them. The board should be secured with clamps on a table.
But I'm lazy and make only a few ribbons at a time. So the simple version is just fine for me. And it's always handy and needs almost no place.

Semolina Flummery
Years ago I made this flummery with rasberries. The plate has 2,2cm in diameter. One rasberry was snitched by a criminal cat, who thought it would be a lot of fun to play with the plate.... I LOVE CATS - most of the time...
