Link of the Day

I know, it is a little bit late for a halloween calendar, but there will be another one next year...
You can see it on Kristens blog. It's 1:1, but worth a visit!
Have a spooky night...

Last Chance

Only 19 of my followers would like to win my giveaway cake??? If you've just forgotten - leave a comment on this post and if you're one of my first 101 followers you have the chance to get it... Drawing will be TOMORROW.

This is, what I made yesterday. A new shelf at the head. It covers the 1.20m power strip and I can reach the pens from my other workingplace...

...which you can see here. Why is it, that I have the greatest chaos, when I tidy up??????
I am determined to have it cleared today AND work on my 1:144 project. The weather isn't as fine as ist has been the last days, so there is a chance, that I won't leave the house. This means: no more excuses!

Link of the Day

And because I have a serious attack of working place fever, I found this link. Isn't that a great (small) idea? I think, this could also be a nice idea for a miniature.

Only one more

This is the shelf I tidied up yesterday. My ribbons had to be organized, but I'm a little bit short of space, so I made a rack and put it in front of some books, I don't need very often.

I hope, I'll be ready with my shelves this weeken, but I have the feeling that I'll find a lot more places I have to tidy up, before I can pick up my 1:144 mini. It's the same with renovation. I paint one door and then I see how everything else look by comparison. And then I buy a huge paint pot....  When I'm ready, I see the curtains need to be washed / I should oil my wooden floor / and I can't overlook the wallpaper in the corridor any longer - and and and.... Perhaps I show you this very special walldecoration next time. Tulipe took a fancy for redecorating it....... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh CATS! Why do I love them so much?!?!?

28 October 2010

This is why it took me so long...

... to tidy up. I'm an addict to making my own backs for binders. And I need hours and hours till I'm pleased with the result. But I think my shelves look so much nicer with them.

Okay Kibbiy girl - I see a broad hint, when there is one..... and I hope you like this link.
These two are called Kate and Charlie.

And I would call these two Kate and Luc.... Who knows, which movie I mean???

Perhaps you already know the felted critters from Jenn Docherty. She has a blog, a website, an etsy shop and a flickr album. So you can look at her wonderful animals for quite some time. And when you visit her blog, you can also find a dollhouse, but I don't give you the post link. You have to look for yourself...

New Try

This is todays picture with daylight. And our daylight today is just wonderful! A sunny Octoberday - cold, but with amazing light. When I went to the market on saturday I saw, that I threw a looooong shadow at 12 o'clock! Winter lies in waiting, So I have to enjoy every nice weather immensely.
And this is, what I'm working on in the moment.....
The last 13 nmonths I neglected the household nearly completely, because of the work for the shows in London and Gießen. So I have to organize my shelves and materials. You know, how much work this can be. But I hope tomorrow, I'll have the time to continue on my new miniature project.
Have a wonderful day!

Oooops... 101 followers

The title for the post should have been: YIPPIIIIIIIE!!!! 100 followers!!!! But.... in the time, when I saw, that there are 100 followers and the time I was taking the picture of my giveaway, Lorraine joined my blog. So this will be a giveaway for one of my 101 followers.
Here are the requirements for winning this marble cake (made by me - of course) on a glas cakestand (made by Rainer Stadler).
You have to be one of my first 101 followers - - this shouldn't keep you away from following my blog. There will be more giveaways.....
You should write a comment on this post
And if you're one of my supersupersuper nice followers, who left already comments - you have a double or triple or quadruple or..... chance for every comment you have left on my blog till now. I'll put your name in the drawing for every comment you have left.
The deadline for this giveaway will be October 1st. I'll try to train my cats - so they will make the drawing.... but if they refuse to cooperate (very likely...), I've to "asign" a "volunteer"....
Unfortunately the picture of the cake isn't as good as it should be. Tomorrow I'll try another one with daylight.

STUPID ME - of course, the deadline is November 1st. Thank you, Mini-Kitchen!!!!

Mathilde - the whistling pig

Thank you, ladies, for your comments on my blog, when I asked, if you like to see my full scale projects. Because I'm terribly busy in my "real" life, I show you one of my older projects.
May I introduce Mathilde - the flying and whistling pig.

My husband and I found this cage on the fleamarket a few years ago. When I saw it, I had an instant vision of a pig with wings and as soon as we were at home, I made Mathilde.
When I sat her into the cage, she complained about her poor and sensible backside on the hard perch. So she got a velvet cushion. Now she is whistling happily and she can fly freely whenever she want. The door is always open.

But she has to be careful. Luzi is a great pighunter!

Tiny Conches

These are the itsybitsytiny conches I found on the beach.
Here with corc and label:

Tiny Shells

More souvenirs from the Baltic Sea....
These are the smallest shells I ever found. They are so extremly delicate and I broke a lot of them, before I could get these. And yes - the 2 on the lower right side are shells! They are only a little bit bigger than a grain of sand.

Fleamarket in Berlin

Today my husband and I walked to the fleamarket on the "Straße des 17. Juni". Whenever you're in Berlin - this is the best fleamarket we have.

If I've had enough place for these wooden boxes, I'd have bought them, despite their prize.... But now I'm thinking of making them in miniature.

Do you like soap bubbles? I do! This is a really BIG one! It's flying 4 meters high. Perhaps you can imagine the size of it.

And here another place, you should visit, when you are in Berlin. The "Schleusenkrug". It's just "round the corner" from the fleamarket. As you can see, a lot of people are enjoying the late october sun. After a rainy saturday, we had a wonderful sunday.

The food at the Schleusenkrug is excellent! They are only working with organic food and the cook is a champ!

And with this finding I was coming home. It's 58cm high and I'm dreaming about a ladys boudoir with cristal chandelier in it. Did I say, I'm working on some 1:1 project. I think, I have to correct this.
Yesterday we had our monthly Minihexen meeting and we made something in 1:144..... When I make something in 1:24 for Heinrike, I think I'm mad as a hatter. But 1:144...... guess what happened - I LOVE IT! What's the comparative of "mad as a hatter"? That's what I am! I hope, I can show you something of this tiny project next week. And what a happy coincidence. Remember the mushrooms I bought last week? The big one on the left side will play an important role in it.

Amber Bottles XXS & M

I now made the label for the amber bottles. It's frustrating - 3 afternoons looking for them and the bottle is filled only a few cm. That means I have to go back to the beach next year - what a nice idea..... I only have to convince my husband.

Link of the Day

That's great! I just went to look on Veroniques website, if she has new miniatures AND...... she has a new website! With "Boutique"! That's marvelous! If you like her toys as much as I do, you'll be happy too.

Happy Findings

Yesterday I went shopping..... I have some full size projects on my mind and needed materials, when I stumbled upon a sale for autumn decorations - - - hmpf - I think, it's autumn now, but they where decorating for christmas. It's so CRAZY! So I've got these mushrooms (I love mushrooms!) for half the prize. This way I saved some money..... okay, no cheeting - I spent money, but I have some ideas for little presents. The mushrooms with the clip will go with a nicely made recipe for my favorite mushroom dinner.
And now I have to ask:
Shall I show my full scale projects on the blog, or do you only want to see miniatures?????? PLEASE TELL ME.

Link of the Day

I know, I know - most of you know this little guy, but I have to show it to the one, who hasn't seen him already....

Kristy made this "scary" baby werewolf. I love him and his voodoo doll. I see him cuddling it and thinking about the next full moon....... BOOOOOOO   -      LOL
You can see more of him on Kristys blog or her shop

Amber in a Bottle

And these are the tiny amber pieces. They were very difficult to snatch. I always had to take them with a spoonful of sand, because they vanished into the sand, when I tried to take hold of them. The bottle will get a cork and a label as soon as I have the matching idea and the right tools. I have to look for tiny holepunchs (? - in german its Locheisen), so that I can cut my own corcs.
Oh - by the way. The bottle stands on a 1 Euro Cent.

Amber

These are the "1:1" ambers I found at the Baltic Sea. I spent 3 afternoons kneeling in the sand...
Members of the "native tribes" laughed about the size - but for me they are just fine and it was a lot of fun looking for them. My sister in law and I had a friendly competition, who could find most and we laughed a lot.
And I like to add a picture of the sunset. On the video it doesn't look as good as it had been.

Sunset at the Baltic Sea

I hope, you can see this video. My sister in law and I were the only ones on the beach at this time and the sunset was really spectacular.

And here the caretaker of the appartment is cleaning the window, because a seagull decorated the glas with 2 huge blots of .... - you know, what I mean....
The porch is glassed-in and we couldn't open the windows to clean them - so he came to allow an undisturbed view. I LOVE to sit there and to have an 1-hour-breakfast!

Back Again and Link of the Day

Hi Mini Lovers! I'm back again from my short holidays at the Baltic Sea and I'm busy busy busy.....
I'm so sorry, that I haven't had the time to check my camera for the pictures and videos I've taken, because I'd like to show you a beautiful sunset, but I have to convert the AVI into mp4 and I have to find a converting tool first. So I have only a wonderful Tutorial from anitarljb's Albums for you. Isn't it great? Check also her other tutorials:
