Luzi presents - her beautiful belly
Luzi has been neutered a few days ago and I am so extremly happy, that all went well. She is 10 years old and we finally decided, that it is unlikely, that we'll get a "fully fitted" tomcat for her, so that she can get kittens. And because at the end of february her time for being on heat starts, she had to have the operation now. It tore my heart apart, because she was screaming frantically when we entered the veterinary practice and I really considered to turn around and go home again. But after a lot of soothing she calmed down (I also could have used someone who put my mind at rest!). On this day Rossi has been depressive, because he is so in love with Luzi (and even Tulipe behaved herself - a very rare state...), but as soon as he saw her again. he started to purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Luzi made a very quick recovery and is again fit as a fiddle. The three are still best friends - that's entire happiness....

Link of the Day - Mouse Droppings
I love mice! And when I saw the little critters from Susan, I instantly fell in love. But first I had to recover from a serious laughing attack. Her blog has such a great name: Mouse Droppings
THANK YOU, Casey! I had the wrong link attached. It's fixed now.

Fabric Organizing and Link of the Day
New Year and a lot of resolutions.... One of them might be, to have better organized storing spaces. And because miniaturist tend to have a lot of very different things to store, I hope you like this Link of the Day.
This is how I store my fabrics. They are in a punched pocket and filed in a ring binder. I add a note with the name of the design and store or website, where I bought the fabric. The ring binders are standing in my shelf with the inside looking to the front. So I can see the content (silk, felt, patterned fabric....). For me it's extremly handy.
If you like to see more organized workspace - Mel has a wonderful list of organizing hints.

Wand No. 1
This is the 1:12 wand for Heinrikes witch. I also made a wooden box for it. The wand is on of my first attempts of wood turning. I loved it so much, so there will be more of them - everyone will be different. Again I forgit to ad a cent. The wand is approx. 2,2 cm long.

Basic Equipment for Witches in 1:24
When Heinrike told me her wishes for christmas, my brain power was on slow go....... Normally her miniatures are 1:24, but their witch scene is 1:12. I made everything in quarter scale. When I told her, that I'm nearly ready with these tiny things, she fortunately sensed, that I wasn't talking about the "big size" half scale..... Now I have 1:24 equipment for a serious witch for sale at my next fair in May. I also turned a 1:24 wand, but I'll it show another time.

Paulinas Calendar
Now I can start to show you some of the things I made as Christmas presents last year (LOL - it sounds like ages ago...).
The first one is a dice calendar I made for Heinrikes daughter Paulina. First I painted all the pictures with watercolours, scanned them, glued them on the wood and distressed them.
For the side of the box I painted this friendly snake.
I made another one (with different pictures) for my grandsons. They got a crocodile on the box.

I hope you all had a good start into the New Year. And now I wish you a wonderful weekend.
And I wanted to say THANKS for all the comments you leave. It's so nice to hear from you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011
I wish you a happy and peaceful New Year. May 2011 be a year, we all like to remember. Stay (or get) healthy and may the Godess of miniatures be with you.
The picture shows the view out of my window1 1/2 hours ago. We stay at home, because our cats are so afraid of all the noise. They are looking for my company and they like a soothing voice. Rossi, our Tomcat, changes into a real pussy. The 2 girls are a little less afraid. But I also don't like the heavy duty firecracker. I hope, our crazy neighbor isn't going to throw the really-extremly-heavy firecracker this New Year. He liked to throw one of them every half an hour till six o'clock in the morning. It's a torture. But I hope he changed residence. Till now, I didn't hear his speciality - so let's hope for the best.
