Painting in Oil

I totally forgot to show you one of my other oil paintings. This one is for my Shabby Interior Design Shop. I still have to make a small table. For now the glass fountain must stand on the carpet.

The siblings

I'm so happy! Today I got a parcel from Penny Thompson with the siblings of my little boy. Aren't they wonderful? After I bought the little boy at the KDF I wanted to have a brother for him and two sisters. The older sister arrived last year and now the kids are complete for my nursery room.
Unfortunately the weather is grey and I couldn't make decent pictures. But I'm sure, you'll see them in a scene (in 1 or 2 years...)

Old German Toss Game

A few years ago I found this old german toss game and always wanted to make it in mini. It was a lot of work to reconstruct the picture, but I think it was worth it. I love the nose!I just added it to my Etsy shop.

Now on ETSY

I did it!Finally I opened my shop on Etsy and because AndreaThieckMiniatures is 2 letters too long it runs under the name AndreasMiniatures, but the header will look similar to my blog.
At the beginning of this year I made some miniature toys for J. and because I haven't heard from her anymore (I hope she is safe and sound), they are now for sale. During the next days, I'll add more toys.

And now a little question. It would be awfully nice if you could give me a feedback.
Do you prefer to stay on the same site, when you click on my Etsy shop or would you prefer a new tab?

Box with Tower of London Die Cuts

Sunday evening I found some die cuts I made a few months ago and decided, that they should have a little box.So I spend the evening looking for pictures and working with my graphic program. Hours for this little box... I fear someday I'll meet some gentlemen who'll help me into a strait jacket.
Addition: Sorry - I forgot the Eurocent again...... the width of the box is 1,3cm.

Full Scale

I have to confess, that I get a little bit sidetracked in the last 2 weeks. I invented 2 games for our youngest grandchildren (5 and 7 years old) and these are the figures I made for one of the games. They are 3,5 cm high. We love to play once a week and I thought, it would be nice to have something very special. This is like a family portrait. From left to right you can see myself, my husband, Jonathan and Nicolas. Everyone could choose the outfit and the kids love them!Would you like to see the game board too?

Oil Painting - Bay Window Room

Hurray - today I saw a little bit of sunshine between the many clouds in the sky over Berlin. So I hurried to get a picture of my oil painting for the Bay Window Room. I painted it in December, but had to wait some weeks before it was fully dry. It's not the only painting I made. Tell me, if you like to see more.
And I wanted to say thanks for all your nice comments. I'm always so happy to read them. It's such a wonderful thought to be connected with people all over the world.

Fireplace - The Basic Work

Today I wanted to show you the working process of the fireplace.

First I cut the wood in the size I needed for the fireplace "box".
Then I took some clay that dries at the air...
... and of course I was interrupted. So I put a wet paper towel on the clay.
Half an hour later I could still roll it without problems.

Then I turned it around and rolled it to the other side.

When the size was right for my wooden "pattern" I cut it along the edge, but left a little bit protude, because the clay shrinks a little bit when drying.

With the help of a straight tool, I carved horizontal lines into the clay...
... and then the vertical lines.  Don't be too meticulous with these lines, when it comes to straightness.
The bricks of old fireplaces are not even.
Because I needed one straight bottom line and a right angle, I made these with the help of Lego bricks. They are great for so many things!
Now I let it dry overnight. One VERY IMPORTANT thing is, that you have to strip them carefully from the tile (or whatever you use) before letting it dry. Otherwise you can't take them off, without damage.
Then I painted the clay with highly pigmented watercolours (I love Windsor & Newton and Schmincke).

Then I assembled the walls with the help of my wooden "pattern", and left a few tiny holes at the bottom for the wires. The fire will be very special and I'll need some time.... I hope I can show you a video this month.

That's the stage of work in the moment.
