Bay Window - Cosy Version
Do you think, it is cosy enough? I'd certainly love to stuff the cushions behind my back, lay down and read the whole day long. I could see the birds, butterflies and the wind playing with the leaves. Now I need books - - - but business before pleasure. When the room is ready, I'll work on the small decorative things. ..... ...... small ... um, well.... I forgot, that this is not a full size room. So I'll work on the small small things. Fortunately I made hundreds of books during the last months. Stay tuned and

Canning Jars from Heinrike
And last but not least - the wonderful conserves my dear friend Heinrike made. I had to have a lot of them for the new kitchen (when I'm remodelling it in future times...).
WHY CAN'T THE DAY HAVE 48 HOURS?!

Glas Sticks for Orchids
First I'd like to thank for the nice coments. It always makes me happy to read them. And then I'd like to show you these small sticks that are used as growth support for orchids. I found them so funny. The colours make me smile and I to buy them from Peter Böhm. Unfortunately he hasn't a website.
Perhaps some day I'll make my florist scene...

Glasware from Gerd Felka
I promised to show you the little treasures I bought at the show in Mannheim.
This is a carafe made by Gerd Felka and painted by Margarete Freudenstein. I'm so happy, that I got it, because she doesn't paint any more.So this is one if her last miniatures. What a pity!
And because I forgot (again) to put a Cent in the picture....

Living Room Walls
I'm so happy, that I could find the time for the roombox. Every day a step more...Today I was looking for "The Perfect Red" and found it. These are two different shades of red and I love it. Perhaps I can make the two bookshelves tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Living Room Floor
Today I made the floor for the living room. I like to glue floors on cardboard, that I paint in a very dark brown. This way I can move the floor for an easier way to work with it. The wood stripes are beech, which have a wonderful texture, when stained.
It's advisable to put a heavy weight on the freshly glued stripes.
Because beech sanding dust is very dangerous for the health (much more than from other wood), I'm very careful. Fortunately I have a very good vacuum cleaner with special dust filters, air cleaners and furthermore the dust mask.
Before I start to sand the wood, I damp it. This way, the wood fibers raise and the sanding goes much better. Before sand, let it dry.
Now I need a lot of patience....... I start with 120 sandpaper .....
wet again...
sand .... wet ... sand .... wet ..... sand ......pant .... wet ... sand .... wet ..... sand ......pant, pant ....
With every sanding I use a finer sandpaper. The higher the number, the finer the sanding particles.
And now the woodstain. I prefer powder woodstain, that I dissolve in water. This is a mixture of black and dark walnut.
Did you think I'm ready with sanding - HAHA!
Next layer of woodstain. Sanding again...
Then I apply a layer of a special oil, that I also use for my full scale wood floors, polish it with Molton - sorry - I couldn't find a translation. It's a soft and very thick cotton fabric. The pictures I made are messed up, so you have to use your imagination.
For the final touch I use a polishing tool thats normally for finger nails. Done!

Faux Marble
Today I painted a piece of wood. In front of the fireplace I need a little bit of marble and you never get real marble, that has the right scale for miniatures. And because I'm in the mood for painting since 2 weeks, it was a nice finger exercise.

Finally I started...
I can't believe it. Since 2 years I have this room in my mind. Today I started with the roombox and I hope, I'll finish most of the project this year. It's my dream of a living room with lots of books, a fireplace and with a door to a conservatory (this project is for later...). Something I'd love to have in real life. But I'll be happy to see it in miniature right in front of the desk, where I do most of my work. The next week I hope to have better light, then I'll make the promised pictures of the minis I bought in Mannheim.
Please tell me, if you'd like to see the progress of this project. Then I'll post about it.
